Hi Lara, Sorry for the delayed reply; I’m traveling at the moment. You could certainly encounter snowstorms in Colorado in December, and even whiteouts. The trip through Colorado on I-70 can be challenging when the weather is like that, especially if you aren’t in a 4-wheel drive or have snow tires. Although many people do it, you need to know what to expect. Utah can also get snow. It would not be my preference to do that trip in December unless you are both comfortable driving in that weather. If not, you could consider doing a slightly different road trip and then flying to Denver from Las Vegas.

Would you recommend doing it in winter. We are arriving in LA the morning on the 14th Dec and am wanting to get right on the road and head to the Las Vegas for 2 nights then onto the Canyon and finally Denver. I am wanting to do it over 6 nights in total. We have 2 young children and my husband has never been to the US. I have but many many years ago. I would love your thoughts on this.
