Hi Aparna – Thank you so much for this! I hope to return to India, and have the chance to explore a new area; I’ve heard wonderful things about Tamil Nadu. Your point about it being an entirely different culture from the north is a great reminder. India is such a diverse place. Do you return often? Thanks so much for listening to the podcast; I loved chatting with Katie and I am so glad the conversation resonated with you. Susan

I live in the US but am from India and enjoyed this post. My favorite state in India is actually Madhya Pradesh. Apart from Khajuraho, which is amazing, there are tons of beautiful sites dotted all over – Gwalior, Orchha, Indore, Mandu, and Maheshwar – are just a few. I also wonder whether you’ve considered visiting the deep South. Tamil Nadu is my home state and the temple towns there – Madurai and Thanjavur in particular- are gorgeous. They offer a very different cultural experience to what you’d see in the Northern part of the country, primarily because they ARE two very different cultures.
Thanks for writing and sharing and inspiring people like me 🙂
