I travel solo and I am 76 years old. I travel with a selfy stick and a portable tripod as well as a detachable wireless remote $15 on amazon .

Hi Anna! How exciting. I hope you will love your solo trip to Paris. I would say be cautious how you do this but yes, it is possible. I do it often. I look for other people who are clearly tourists, maybe a family with kids or a group of women. I wait around until I see a group like this who are trying to get a photo (selfie style). I offer to take their picture. And then I ask if they could take one of me. This has worked like a charm. I just did it in Croatia. It was a group of American women there to celebrate a 50th birthday. Hope this helps.

I’m a 42 year old woman heading to Paris Oct 1-8 SOLO and I’ve been a bit stressed out. Quick question, since I’ll be alone and will want some pics with landmarks, is it safe to ask someone to use your phone to take your picture? I’m scared they might run off and I’d be without my phone in Paris!

I would say to budget US $250-$300 a night for a hotel (prices vary a lot by season and demand; you may find something for less). The museum pass is very affordable for a week and gardens are free. I would budget 100 euros a day for lunch and dinner with wine. Some days you won’t spend that much and others you might spend a little more. Maybe a few hundred more for ballet, opera tickets and guided walking tours (to save money take the ones that are “free” you tip only. The free tour by Sandeman’s is terrific. And a taxi to and from the airport is about 130 euros return. I hope that helps — have a wonderful time!!

I’m saving for a 7-day solo trip to Paris next year (2025). I would like to stay in a mid-priced hotel in the Latin Quarter and do most of your suggestions (except the day trip). I’d probably only be interested in one pricey dinner, but I’m very interested in museums, sightseeing, gardens, ballet, opera, cafes, wine, etc. Less the airfare…how much do you suggest I’d need?
